Welcome . . .
. . . to Nick’s very personal tour of Shakespeare’s town
Stratford upon Avon lies at the very heart of England, and Shakespeare has
a place in our souls.
His town now welcomes (well, in ordinary times!) two and a half million
visitors every year, and the Shakespeare ‘industry’ is worth £58 million to
the local economy. But it wasn’t always thus. In this affectionate and
entertaining virtual tour, Nick will tell the story of how David Garrick, the
most celebrated actor of his age, began the whole thing more than a
hundred and fifty years after the great poet’s death.
Don’t miss the opportunity to get the inside track on this picturesque town
in the company of an actor who knows it and loves it like his own home.
We’ll see the principal sites in the town associated with its famous son and
take a peek behind the scenes at its world famous theatre.
In under an hour and a half you will feel like you’ve been there, treading in
Shakespeare’s footsteps, and you will feel like an insider, almost certainly
knowing a lot more than any of the people who have actually wandered its
streets gazing at the sites.
